community outreach
In times of COVID-19, solidarity and collaboration are key to foster resilient communities.
For over 13 years, Niños de Guatemala, a dutch-guatemalan organization, has been working with the communities surrounding Antigua Guatemala, providing access to education to more than 540 children of low-income families, that range from kinder-garden to High School.
The “Skills for Success” methodology focuses in 5 areas: math, reading/writing, emotional intelligence, English and computer science. Through innovation, they enable a path to success for students to become active community members and transform their future.
Since March 15th, due to the mandatory quarantine derived from COVID19 children have been sent off to their homes for safety reasons. Despite having to lay-off half of the team, they managed to deliver printed guides with educational content along with groceries every 15 days, including health and safety information. This not only helps the children’s education but directly impacts families, whose main income depended on street sales and tourism related activities.
For every purchase, 10% of profits will be donated to Niños de Guatemala, to enable them to continue with their mission.
